Priced at $2,100, Sunbird is part of our Art Collectors Special Pieces, crafted by the late Sylvester Mubayi, one of the first-generation Shona sculptors. As a founding member of the Vukutu Workshop, his globally admired work reflects profound artistry and cultural depth. 🖤

Sculpted by Boira Mteki, a first-generation sculptor and one of the founding artists of the Shona sculpture movement, this piece stands 8 inches tall and 8 inches wide.

Mteki is renowned for his powerful depictions of wildlife, and his work has graced many of the most important exhibitions over the last thirty years.

Capturing the essence of the baboon in stunning detail, this sculpture is a must-have for any art lover’s collection.

We're deeply saddened by the loss of the talented Zimbabwean abstract sculptor, Prosper Katanda, who passed away yesterday. His work, inspired by the late Brighton Sango, and characterized by clean, repetitive forms mimicking sound waves, stood among the most modern in Zimbabwe.

Prosper exhibited internationally throughout Europe and North America.

Today, we honor his memory by showcasing his stunning Shona Sculptures. These captivating pieces, with their intricate details and unique designs, reflect his incredible skill and vision.

Rest in peace, Prosper Katanda. Your art will continue to inspire and captivate us all. 🕊️🇿🇼

🌟 We are thrilled to announce the unveiling of Agnes Nyanhongo’s newest sculpture at the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park in Alabama, commissioned through ZimSculpt for the Equal Justice Initiative. This monumental piece marks our first commissioned project of the year. On June 19th, Agnes joined the park’s dedication ceremony to celebrate Freedom Day.

During the ceremony, EJI founder Bryan Stevenson highlighted the remarkable resilience and strength of enslaved people, saying, “Enslaved people resisted. Enslaved people were resilient. Enslaved people found ways to make a way.”

Shona sculpture is a powerful expression of freedom and resilience, capturing the spirit and strength of those who have persevered through adversity.

In the spirit of Juneteenth, let us honor the legacy of perseverance and continue to fight against all forms of oppression through our art, actions, and words. Well done, Agnes! 🙌🏾✊🏾
