When one gets married we call that “Jumping The Broom”, it’s a tradition that was practiced long back in some certain sectors of the shona society. The Broom merely signifies the boundary one passes through into a new journey. Meaning for example you were Miss and now you are Mrs. This was done when one gets married.Here is a shona sculpture by Vengai Chiwawa portraying this significant part in life.
