William Wilberforce Chewa

William was born in Guruve in an area full of famous artists, such as the late Brighton Sango and Edronzi Rukodzi.  He was influenced by the aforesaid masters of art where at the age of 13 he started his art career.

As time passed he shaped his career along with his brothers John and Omiro Chewa.  In 1995 he joined the Sanganai Art Group boosting his market furthermore and joined Tengenenge Art Community in 1997 after finishing his secondary education.

In 2007 he moved to Harare and since then has been working in Hatfield along the Airport Road.  He also maintains his rural workshop in Guruve as a means of widening his marketing exposure.

His art works mainly focus on human figures, birds and he has started approaching abstract forms.  William’s sculptures continue to blossom and evolve.
