Taurai Masona

Taurai was raised in a family of four boys and one girl in Manicaland province in the district of Mutasa and went to Domborutinhira primary and Mwoyewoshumba High School.  He was an athlete and a soccer player.

At the same time Taurai took interest in art and was interested in sculptors and he visited Mabvuku, Harare where there are many sculptors and it was love at first sight.  The area had sculptors working at Mabvuku Art Centre and he started practicing full time in 2004 and has been doing sculpting ever since, with passion.  He likes to work with types of stone like springstone, opal stone, cobalt and fruit serpentine.

He was greatly inspired by Andrew Nyagato (Itai Nyama) and how they worked on their stones and was his apprentice up to 2010, when he passed away.  All his works for sale are abstract.
