Robert Nyariri

Robert was born on the 18th April 1980 in Chiweshe, Mashonaland, Central Province of Zimbabwe. Robert is from a family of five, three boys and two girls.

In 1998 Robert started his primary schooling at Kanyemba School of Chiweshe, but sadly didnt finish his secondary education due to financial problems.

In 1996 he started to work in the art world as an assistant to his brother Tutani in Mutorashanga. Tutani had a huge influence on Robert, not only inspiring him but positively encouraging him to sculpt for himself. In 1999 he started working for himself and by the age of seventeen he was sculpting pieces that collectors buying from his brother also brought from him. With this support he managed to buy his own tools and was sculpting pieces for galleries all over Harare.

He has since exhibited his works at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and The Stone Heritage Gallery, in Harare and participated in a project called Artist for Artist.
