Peter Mukuvise

Born in 1979 in Nyanga, eastern Zimbabwe, Peter Makuvise discovered his passion for sculpture at the age of 18. Under the mentorship of his older brother, Kufa Makuvise, Peter closely observed and learned the art of stone carving, quickly developing into a skilled and independent artist.

Renowned for his exceptional ability to capture the intricacies of human faces, Peter’s work has become synonymous with detailed and expressive portrayals of human emotion and form. Since 1998, he has been a prominent figure at the Nyanga Art Centre, where he continues to refine his craft and create breathtaking sculptures.

Peter’s preferred materials include Lemon Opal and green serpentine, both of which allow him to bring a unique texture and depth to his works. His sculptures are highly regarded and are showcased in numerous galleries and private collections around the world, including in England, Korea, Germany, Canada, and the Netherlands.

With his ability to transform stone into vivid expressions of humanity, Peter Makuvise continues to make a significant impact on the international art scene.
