Born into a family of six children, Maikosi is the fifth born.

Maikosi is now married with two sons of his own.

He started sculpting in 1989 and was taught by Edronce Rukodzi.

Exhibiting in the Zimbabwe Heritage for three years from 1990 – 93 and received a certificate of ‘Highly Commended Sculptor’ in 1991.

Maikosi sculpts human figures, birds and flowers in abstract forms. His birds are particularly popular.

Living in the rural areas, Maikosi takes alot of inspiration from what he experiences around him. Living in a beautiful environment he keeps many birds of his own, which he copies in stone form.
