Lenard Sezhento

I am Lenard Sezhento, I was born in 1977 on 3rd March in Goromonzi District. I had attended my primary education at Hatidani Primary School and then proceeded for my secondary education at St Vincent Secondary School.

After school, I started working for the late Nicholas Mukomberanwa during the construction of his mansion in 1996 at his farm. He appreciated the work that I was doing and promoted me to another level after the first six months. I was given another duty of tending his garden and he was pleased with my performance and he consequently transferred me to a different department of stone sculpting under the supervision of his son Anderson Mukomberanwa.

Anderson was my first mentor to instruct me how to work with stone. I started working alone in 2004 and in the same year I started sending my sculptures to The National Gallery for exhibitions. Ruwa Gallery, Gallery Africa and Chapungu gGallery all accommodated my artworks. I specialize in Shona art.
