Kennedy Zano

Kennedy was born on the 27th of March in 1973, at a very tender age he grew to love art as he
explored his environment and the natural world, he developed an interest in stone sculpting at 15
years old.

Kennedy started his career as a sculptor by working in Chitungwiza under the tutelage of
his father Lameck Zano. He worked there for several years, honing his skills and perfecting his craft.
In 2009, Kennedy decided to go solo and started his own studio in Chitungwiza.

He is based there, in Chitungwiza. His work is an exposé of the rich animal kingdom flourishing in the African forests as well as other mammals in other regions outside Africa. Kennedy’s approach is to lobby and
motivate the issues around conservation and the preservation of the Zimbabwean cultural
heritage.

His compositions reflect the dynamic relationships among families and the challenges that they face every day, in addition to their triumphs and the lessons they learn from them. His work has been showcased in various international exhibitions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, just to name a few. Kennedy’s artwork is expressed in the creation of animal pieces such as monkeys, gorillas, baboons, elephants, as well as other animals and birds using a variety of stone mediums such as dolomite.
