Elvis Mamvura

Born in Harare in 1976, Elvis Mamvura was born on the 3rd March 1976 in the Hwedza district of Zimbabwe.

He started sculpting at the age of 11 under the tutorage of his father, internationally recognised sculptor, Albert Natham Mamvura, now deceased. Elvis’swork has been exhibited by a number of galleries in the UKincluding The Royal Albert Museum and Art Gallery in Exeter, AfricaArt in Brighton and the Worthington Museum and Art Gallery.

Saprolite is an exceeding unusual stone, and his family, including his wife Lorraine is renowned for working in it almost exclusively.
