Charles Pasuwa

Charleswas born in Chegutu, Mashonaland in a family of three boys. He attended primary and secondary schooling in Chitungwiza, a high-density suburb of Harare.

In 1994 he became interested in art and was inspired by the late Chikuse Padzumwa, Lincon Muteta and later Shepherd Madzikatire – assisting them in their studios. His work in the early days concentrated on abstracts, flowers and sometimes figures.

He sold his works at Chapungu Gallery, National Gallery and the Matombo gallery in Zimbabwe and many found their way through the Diaspora.

Charlesurges young generation artists to work hard and not to copy others art forms – to create something which is unique so that they can be promoted.

He likes music, TV. and going to see the soccer at the National Stadium.

PresentlyCharles is creating high towers of arms entwined, reaching out or lovers holding hands. They are powerful and well presented.
