Aaron Chikumbirike

Born in Wedza and educated to secondary level, Aaron started sculpture as a hobby and became fulltime soon after leaving school in 1969. He is the eldest son in a family of ten artists, some of whom are among the leading artists in Zimbabwe today, he has also extended his career to his four children, who also bear a promise of success.

His work has been exhibited within Zimbabwe atthe Zimbabwe Annual Heritage ’91 and ’93. Heisa member of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe andoversea’s, his pieces are in permanent collections all over the world.

His works have been more successful in mixed media and he owes his success to his art of imagination and own creativity, hence his works are all original.

He is a member of the Mbire Group who prides his totem “Baboon”. He is a Christian who boasts his life outside crime and is also known for counselling and telling tales of fun in his local community.
