David Mushonga was born in 1953 in Centenary and belongs to the Korekore tribe. David managed to obtain a standard six certificate at St Albert’s Secondary Mission School in 1968, and did not complete all forms because of a shortage of money. Through out David’s life he has had many a different job such as, houseboy, garden boy, teacher and his last job was a petrol attendant. He started in the art of stone carving in 1987 at Tengenenge. He likes artwork because he wants to make Zimbabwe known in Africa and also for the development of his country. David has sold his stone sculptures to other countries while exhibiting there, such as Holland in the National Gallery.
