Born on the 5th of September, 1976, Abel Makuvise completed their O-Level studies in 1993 before embarking on their artistic journey. In 1995, at the age of 19, they began their stone carving career, inspired by their brother, Kufa Makuwise, who also became their mentor in the art of stone sculpture.
Makuvise’s work is a unique fusion of contemporary and modern art, with a focus on the joyous aspects of nature, animals, and human beings. Their sculptures reflect a deep appreciation for the beauty and happiness found in the natural world.
The artist’s favorite stones to work with are Opal and Nyanga stone, which they use to craft their intricate pieces. Abel Makuvise has gained international recognition, with their artwork being sold in Germany, Canada, Denmark, South Africa, the Netherlands, and the United States.
