This artist exchange was organised by Rock N’ Art Gallery Director Brigit Breuer. Participants learned how to create a sculpture: sketching, drawing, clay modelling, stone sculpting with the teacher’s help and writing of artist statements and biography and had the optional sale of their created pieces at a charity and live carving event. Breuer also invited established First Nations master carvers to exchange their various sculpting techniques and cultures during these events.
We are thrilled that we could secure these two Zimbabwean artists to teach a sculpting camp for kids and a weekend workshop for adults with local sculptor Don Watson. They talk a lot while sculpting, telling stories as they go.
