LAUNCHED by Councillor Judy Saunders, Mayor of Merton

With over 100 sculptures on display, I’m sure you will be intrigued and enlightened with the depth of the work on display…

ZimSculpt.com is a non-political company based in Harare, Zimbabwe. We receive absolutely no public funding whatsever and are completely independent.

ZimSculpt represents over 100 sculptors from across the country and spends 6 months of the year collecting the work which will be on display.

The artists, whose work is represented at the exhibition, are trying to make an honest, decent living by raising their families using their own fair hands. The exuberance of the work, the vast varieties of stone, and the great skill and imagination of the sculptors has led to many years of major exhibitions worldwide.

ZimSculpt have a unique opportunity to be in constant communication with the artists and thus privy to the latest cutting edge sculpture being produced in Zimbabwe today.

As you are probably aware, Zimbabwe is going through economical turmoil at the moment. More than ever we ask you to support our venture and take a look at this exhibition with an open heart. They are the voice of Africa and of Zimbabwe.

We don’t charge entrance fees for this exhibition, but hope that something, no matter how small, will interest the visitor.

The three sculptors especially invited from Zimbabwe to demonstrate and hold workshops are Sam Mabeu, Lincon Muteta and Dudzai Mushawepwere.

…unlike art found in much of the rest of Africa, Shona sculpture … has become a wholly indigenous modern art form created exclusively as a form of artistic expression.
