Born in Nyanga in 1950 and educated at a Mission, he started modeling clay and carving wood, as a hobby, from an early age. He met Frank McEwan at Vukutu in 1969 when he was working there as a builders assistant, and was inspired to try his hand at sculpting stone. He soon became a member of the Vukutu Workshop and his work was represented in many of the exhibitions at that time. Amon came to live in Milton Park, Harare in 1978.
A sensitive character who preferred working within a small semi-abstract style. His work abounds with feeling and is full of life and vigour. Amon exhibited for the first time in 1971 at the 14th Annual (National Gallery Of Zimbabwe) and had his first one-man exhibition in 1985.
