Why did you become an artist?:  Because I love carving and portraying my thoughts in stone.

Who is / are / were your teacher/s?:  Graham Rugoyi and the late Edmore Makotore.

How long have you been carving?:  3 years.

Which types of do you carve?: Spring stone, Lapidolite, Dolomite, Leopard Rock and Verdite.

What subject do you carve best?: Creations (flowers).

What inspires you to create : Nature.

 

Ambitions for the future:  To become one of the best artists in mixed media and installations.  I also wish to groom and inspire others who wish to become artists.

What other things  do you do as well?:  Drawing and interior décor

Motto(Favourite Saying) : “Don’t give up”

A real treat here in Wimbledon. At Cannizaro Park a superb open-air exhibition of Zimbabwean sculpture. There were many pieces, large and small, and a wide variety of different stone used in imaginative ways. And, overall, a real sense of Africa, linked to a long artistic tradition.

I was told that many of the sculptors had been trained within their own families: a father, an uncle, a grandfather, passing on the old skills.
