My name is Sylvester Samanyanga.  I was born on 27-06-1986 in Chinhoyi.  I went to Kuwadzana primary and Kuwadzana High School in Banket.  When I was young I would mould cattle using clay.  I would also make my own toys using wire.  Since my father Kennedy Samanyanga was an artist I used  to play around with his old tools. I would assist him with sanding and polishing his sculptures during weekend and holidays from Primary up to Secondary level I felt very enthusiastic about painting ,drawing and handicraft.  ln 2003 l started making my own sculptures and joined Sanganayi Art Group in Guruve.

When sculpting I use hand tools; hammer, punch, diamond rasp, chasing hammer and chisel.  My favorite stone to curve is Springstone, Opal, Cobalt and all Serpentine.  I have sold my works to the UK, China, Canada and most European countries.  My ambition is to be known worldwide like other  big artists and travel around the world demonstrating art.  I am  married and have 2 children, a girl and a boy.  During working my wife helps me with ideas, sanding, rasping and polishing.

There is much to love about the pairing of ZimSculpt and VanDusen. The combination of art and the garden enhances the experience of both. The larger Zimbabwean sculptures seem ideally suited to outdoor display: they are perfectly at home rising from a bed of perennials or standing tall beside Cypress Pond, and they act as dramatic accents to the Garden’s picturesque landscapes.
