Owen was born in the Nyanga District in Manicaland. He is the third born in a family of seven.

He attended Saunyama Primary as well as Mapako Secondary in Nyanga. He loved playing volleyball and moulding clay dolls and drawing.

In 2006 Owen assisted artists like the late Nichodimus Mamvura, the late Andrew Nyagato and most recently Itai Nyamadzawo. In 2007 he assisted Itai full time and Itai mentored him to sculpt abstract forms of art and promoted him to createhis own works. He gained experience from observing artists who worked at Mabvuku Art Centre, a small township just outside Harare and currently works there.

Owen is a new comer to the art world and someone definetely to watch out for in the future.

Sculpture has always been a part of Chelsea Flower Show so it comes as no surprise that there are 55 stands exhibiting all kinds of shapes, sizes and materials made by home-grown and international talent. Sculptors from Africa were especially evident and I could have walked away with a number of the exhibits from ZimSculpt.com, a studio based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
