Owen went to Hippo High School for his O’Levels in 2002.

After school he was called by uncle Wisdom Zinyeka who was an artist and Owen worked with him as an assistant for three years.  After that he worked with his brother Felix MULUNGISI for two years then he started to work at his own workshop.

Owen specializes in abstracts, figurative and functional art.

In 2013 he participated in developing functional art with Fair Trade Designers and House by the Sea from Denmark and he was awarded a certificate in Functional Art.  He also did two exhibitions in South Africa with Tina’s ‘Sukkah Gallery’ with his brother Felix.

Owen works on all types of stones mostly hard stones like Fruit Serpentine stone and Springstone amongst others.

He wishes to take art to a higher level and would like his art works to be known worldwide.

It’s hard to imagine the difficulty involved in transporting more than 300 stone sculptures from Zimbabwe on a world tour – some weighing so much it takes five men to lift them – but the team behind ZimSculpt has managed this tedious task for over a decade, and brings this beloved Zimbabwean art form to VanDusen Botanical Garden for its third and final year in Vancouver.
