My name is Michael Kakweza.  I was born in 1978 at Nyadire Hospital in Mutoko.

I did my primary education at Masarakuta Primary and Secondary School in Mudzi.

I was born an artist.  My father is a big artist too, his name is Everisto Kakweza, he started sculpting in 1976.  He was the top 10 artists working at Chapungu Gallery in Harare.

I am married with five children, 3 girls and 2 boys.

I sculpt leopards in a stone called Leopard Rock, a very hard stone which I like caving.

I like to hunt and travel.

There is much to love about the pairing of ZimSculpt and VanDusen. The combination of art and the garden enhances the experience of both. The larger Zimbabwean sculptures seem ideally suited to outdoor display: they are perfectly at home rising from a bed of perennials or standing tall beside Cypress Pond, and they act as dramatic accents to the Garden’s picturesque landscapes.
