About Us

DSC_0029We are a small family-run business.

I’m Vivienne and I’ve been in the Arts business for over 20 years.  I started representing ‘Zimbabwean’ Artists in 2000 when initially I created the website ZimSculpt.com after meeting a Zimbabwean representative of Shona Sculpture at a UK art exhibition.  I was invited to Zimbabwe for 2 weeks to see if this market could be promoted overseas and have stayed there ever since.

I am originally from the UK and worked with many other International artists for 7 years prior to moving to Zimbabwe – promoting their works in Galleries and Trade Shows across Britain.

Over 15 years ZimSculpt.com’s website and the organization has grown – we now represent over 200 sculptors and boast the largest Zimbabwean sculpture collection and the most extensive artist biography database online.

Joseph, my French husband, joined me in 2007 and is jointly responsible for our wonderful exhibitions.  Joseph and I work tirelessly in Zimbabwe, touring around the whole country, hand selecting every single piece that is displayed.  Joseph has played an integral part of the business since joining and has made invaluable choices for the direction of the company. We have two children.

A real treat here in Wimbledon. At Cannizaro Park a superb open-air exhibition of Zimbabwean sculpture. There were many pieces, large and small, and a wide variety of different stone used in imaginative ways. And, overall, a real sense of Africa, linked to a long artistic tradition.

I was told that many of the sculptors had been trained within their own families: a father, an uncle, a grandfather, passing on the old skills.
